A learning experience in Horticultural Science where a student can gain real-world experience relevant to their academic and career goals. A minimum of 45 hours must be completed for each credit hour earned, with 3 credit hours maximum for each experience (135 hours = 3 credits). The experience must be arranged by the student and approved by the Department of Horticultural Science prior to the start of the experience. To gain approval, a student must submit the completed HS 492 contract and have it approved by their experience supervisor and the undergraduate coordinator. In addition to the work described in the contract, a student will complete two reflective assignments.

We wanted to make the number of hours devoted to internships, research and teaching all equitable, which it was not prior to this revision. Students who wanted 1 hour of credit for an internship needed more contact hours than students wanting 1 hour of credit for being a teaching assistant or doing a research project.

aeherget (Wed, 12 Sep 2018 21:51:30 GMT): AECHH: HS 492, HS 493, and HS 494 were approved at 9/12/2018's UCCC meeting pending adjusts to the contact hours to accurately calculate. Members also made the friendly suggestion to clarification on the S grade requirements indicating the students “must earn at least 70% on the assignments” if this means each assignment must be 70% or if the average grade of assignments should be 70%.
