The Graduate School is committed to transforming graduate education at NC State -- to prepare our best and brightest students as true leaders ready to tackle the major challenges facing our state, nation, and world. NC State is nationally recognized as a leader in the STEM disciplines, and we support advanced study and original research in the fields of agriculture and life sciences, design, education, engineering, natural resources, humanities and social sciences, management, the sciences, textiles, and veterinary medicine, as well as many exciting interdisciplinary programs.

NC State currently offers over 160 master’s degrees and more than 60 doctoral degrees in traditional disciplines as well as many emerging disciplines, including biomedical engineering, biotechnology, genomics, geographical information systems, nanotechnology, and natural resources.  In addition to these degrees, we offer as a full range of certificates and minors. The Graduate School also offers a range of interdisciplinary Professional Science Master’s programs that tailor educational outcomes with employers’ needs.

The Graduate School is also proud to offer more than 75 professional develop opportunities annually designed to establish a foundation of success for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The professional development initiative encompasses three crucial themes: career skills, teaching and mentoring, as well as responsible conduct of research and scholarship. In addition, the Graduate School offers programs to support graduate students’ thesis and dissertation writing.
