University Catalog 2024-2025

Engineering Education (Minor)

The Engineering Education Minor is designed to provide opportunities to students seeking to expand their knowledge around the science of teaching and learning for engineers. This relatively new discipline is positioned to created unique learning experiences for engineering graduates who are contemplating continuing on (or eventually returning) to graduate school with a goal of ultimately becoming faculty members in the collegiate ranks.

This undergraduate minor will allow this group of students to have an introduction to the required preparation including the development of teaching skills to become successful in this emerging field. In addition, this minor is well-suited for engineering students who are considering non-traditional engineering careers such as technical sales, the development and implementation of educational technology as well as the creation of educational training and programming specifically for the commercial environment.

Admissions

Admission to the minor is limited to students who have at least a 3.0 GPA.  Application for admission to any University minor program is now available via MyPack Portal.  Go to Add a Minor to apply.

Certification

The minor must be completed no later than the semester in which the student expects to graduate from their undergraduate degree program.  Certification should be completed no later than during the registration period for the student’s final semester as an undergraduate student at NC State.
